Frosh Watch
Domestic Violence Victims shouldn't be able to defend themselves because
it isn't "Appropriate or Necessary"
Brian Frosh on the Issues
Pedophiles
- Jessica's Law (2007 MD SB413)
Brian Frosh was one of only three no votes during the passage of
Jessica's law. This law provides for more severe punishments for
pedophiles, yet Mr. Frosh opposed it. Perhaps this is due to his job
in a criminal defense practice. Don't believe he would vote against this?
Here's proof!
- The 2010 Maryland General Assembly has seen a variety of sex
offender bills fail the judiciary committee. While not all were good
bills, many were.
Ethics
- Malpractice Lawsuit
In 2004, an ethics complaint was filed against Brian Frosh for
helping to kill a bill that would have limited medical malpractice
payouts. The complaint was filed due to Senator Frosh's job with a
law firm handling personal injury cases.

Justice
- Credit for Good Time
Senator Frosh has opposed legislation reducing the good time
allowance for sexual and violent criminals.
Self Defense
- Desk Drawer Veto:
Brian Frosh refuses to allow the Democratic process to work. When he
doesn't like a bill, he refuses to let it be voted on, even if it
would pass unanimously.
- Handgun Permit Laws (HB683)
Brian Frosh opposes the right of citizens to self defense. In fact,
Brian Frosh says anyone who needs a concealed weapon is nuts. Check
out our Gun Nut Test, to see if you are a
gun nut. It's sad that Brian Frosh doesn't believe that you have a
right to defend yourself.
- Last session, House Judiciary Chairman Delegate Vallario
mentioned that it would be pointless to hear a bill like this, as
there is no way Mr. Frosh would ever give it a vote.
- Civil Immunity Laws (SB 386
and SB 411)
Brian Frosh supports allowing criminals to sue if they are injured
while breaking and entering. Imagine shooting someone raping your
daughter, and being sued by him. 2008's HB1060, the Civil Immunity
Bill, passed the Maryland House 136-0, yet Brian Frosh alone was
able to prevent the bill from becoming law. Why? Brian Frosh works
at a personal injury firm, and this law would reduce the number of
cases he could work. Despite both houses having a majority favorable
vote, Brian Frosh continues to refuse to bring this bill to a vote.

- Civil Immunity Bills have been introduced again in the Senate
under SB 386 and SB 411.
Death Penalty
- Brian Frosh opposes the death penalty. As chairman of the Senate
Judiciary committee, he has been unable to get a repeal passed so he
supports a discharge motion. He claims the committee refusing to
give a report is undemocratic, yet he refuses to give bills hearings
based on personal bias.
Illegal Immigrants
- Brian Frosh doesn't want to prevent illegal's from getting
drivers licenses. As Judiciary chairman, he fights very hard to
ensure that criminals can sue their victims, but when it comes to
illegal immigrants getting our tax dollars, he's not willing to
stand up for us. Article
Assault Weapons Ban
- Mr. Frosh has signed on to sponsor SB516. This law would require
registration of currently lawfully owned weapons and ban future
purchases or even procession. Failure to register would result in
confiscation, even if your weapon was grandfathered. This bill has
been promoted as an effective tool for public safety, but even the
Maryland state police have said assault weapons account for a very
small percent of crime.
- Weapons registration is contrary to the nature of our nation.
Weapons registration is the tool of dictators such as Hitler and
Mao, not leaders of free people.
- SB516 would raise Maryland's crime rate, as it would spread the
message to criminals that Maryland doesn't want citizens defending
themselves.
- SB516 would not apply to criminals, because they don't follow
the law anyway.
