Who Am I?
I want to use this section to share a little about me. I'm 24 and a registered Democrat. I support many liberal ideals, such as equal pay for equal work, gay marriage, separation of church and state, the right to use contraception and regulation of the free market to name a few.
But in the last few years I've come to see a change in the Democratic party. It's become the party of a nanny state. Just as I didn't want Congress to legislate morality under Bush, I don't want Congress to turn into my nanny under Obama.
One area I particularly disagree is gun control. The right to keep and bear arms is fundamental. I love the police, and they are good people, but the police can't be everywhere all the time and what's why we have the right to bear arms. Self defense is a fundamental right and responsibility of every citizen.
I have never been to a tea party, and I probably will never go. I am a democrat, and I am a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I pray that other democrats who support the 2nd amendment will have the courage to step forward.
My fear is that once people become complacent with licensing one right, others will follow.
I am tired of seeing the lies about guns spread across the media. I am tired of the hypocrites in office. Mr. Omalley has two police officers with him, armed police officers, but if I go out, I am expected to pray that I don't get robbed. If our leaders really believed that Maryland was safe, they would drop the security details.
